There is a couple of new images from various trips to the Alps I added to the The Alps section. Enjoy đ
- Alpen Blues
While browsing my pictures from the annual trip to the Alps in 2016 with my buddy N. Alexander Otto Photography I found some gems which make me look forward for this years' trip to the Alps which is about to start in a week! This is a shot from a blue hour morning scene at an alpine lake were we stayed over the night. The night before we got engulfed in fog just after we reached the lake. We didn't get any shots that night, but went on a late swim in the lake after an arduous hike, which turned out to be almost too refreshing for the following cold night. The next morning didn't offer any spectacular light for us, however spending a morning on a mountain witnessing the world waking up from high above is special or even magical itself and that's what this picture symbolises for me. When was the last time you woke up on a mountain seeing the first light of the day?
- Warmth
This is a shot from a late autumn hike last year where we just had as good weather like these days, but unfortunately I didn't get any good shots this year. It is always such a spectacular experience when see the setting sun emphasising the already beautiful mountain ranges and giving away the last warm bits before a cold night high up. Actually on this trip at the end of October I experienced an unusual warm night at around 2000m of altitude, not going much below 10°C.
- Yearning
Although it already feels like winter here, the landscape doesn't show itself in its white dress yet. After all tonight already was winter solstice, meaning that we can already looking forward for longer days and more sun exposure. This is a shot from 2017 where we had a short be intense winter in south Bavaria.
- Bötlis
During our last annual trip to the Alps, my friend Alex and I drove to a lake in the Swiss Alps we scouted earlier on GoogleEarth and were surprised how beautiful it really was. On the lake shore there were cosy benches and fireplaces with firewood next to them. It was simply too inviting to not spend a night by the campfire. We were also surprised to bump into Roland Gerth there again, whom we only met briefly one day earlier somewhere else. This time we had more time to chat and exchange thoughts about landscape photography.
- Where there is Water there is a Path
During our last annual trip to the Alps my buddy N. Alexander Otto Photography and I planned to visit a couple of waterfalls, after getting disappointed about rather unphotogenic waterfalls during last years' trip, where in most cases there simply was not enough water. Luckily in the Alps we had plenty of rainfall the days before we started our trip, so this time we got lucky! In the case of this photo we visited a very wet gorge in south Bavaria, where there was water coming literally from all directions, that's why we got soaked a little bit. This would be quite a dream right now after having over 30°C for weeks in Germany.
- Wild Flowers
On our annual trip to the Alps this year, we experienced a lot of beautiful wild flowers on the alpine meadows we crossed. The photo only shows a small bit of one of my favourite meadows, it actually can't really do justice to the beauty of the real meadow, but it's a nice memory which brings back to my mind the smell and the feeling I associate with this place.
